The Fresh-Aire UV APCO™ is the next generation in IAQ improvement technology, incorporating an advanced absorptive photo-catalytic oxidation (APCO) monolithic cell. Current PCO technology is limited by only being capable of breaking down simple indoor air contaminates such as odors in the air as they pass by the PCO cell. Traditional PCO cells are ineffective on more complex VOCs such as formaldehyde or toluene. With APCO™ all that has changed.

How APCO Works

1. Airborne volatile organic compounds (VOCs) are captured by the APCO carbon matrix and held in place by the microscopic structure.

2. UV light shining on the titanium dioxide infused carbon matrix creates a photocatalytic effect which transforms the captured VOC molecules into harmless water vapor and carbon dioxide.

3. The transformed molecules no longer hold onto the carbon and are released back into the air. Because of this the APCO cell never wears out or fills up making the system virtually maintenance free.

In addition, the Fresh-Aire UV APCO™ uses our proven shielded UV-C lamp for airborne disinfection, not to mention irradiating the coil to eliminate system clogging biological growth unlike other PCO systems.
